Quick Start Guide

Typical Use Case

Power on the thin client. A login dialog appears. Enter domain credentials. The RDP connection is established. Work in the familiar Windows session. After logging out of the Windows session, the login dialog reappears for the next user.

    Tips and Tricks

Enable AVC444 on the Terminal Server

In RemoteFX vGPU scenarios, AVC444 is automatically enabled. To use AVC444 without RemoteFX vGPU (see article FreeRDP — Optimizing Performance), set AVC444 as the preferred option on the server: Computer Configuration→Administrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsRemote Desktop ServicesRemote Desktop Session HostRemote Session EnvironmentPrioritize H.264/AVC 444 Graphics mode for Remote Desktop connections

    Use Windows Login Screen

To use the Windows login screen instead of the openthinclient login dialog, follow these steps:

On the terminal server, enable TLS connections. To do this, disable the group policy Computer Configuration→Administrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsRemote Desktop ServicesRemote Desktop Session HostSecurityRequire user authentication for remote connections by using Network Level Authentication
      In the openthinclient Manager:
In the FreeRDP application settings → Connection Parameters → Security Protocol, select the TLS (use Windows login screen) option. Under Application Settings→Login→Authentication, select the default value (or select Show Login Dialog / Use the login credentials below) and leave the Username and Password fields blank..
