Manager Update

Via the Web Interface

1. Open the web interface of the openthinclient Manager http://<SERVERNAME_ODER_IP>:8080
2. Here, update the Manager and Server components:
   • Select > Basic Settings (bottom left) from the menu.
   • Select the Manager Updates option from the menu.
   • Click Check for Updates.
   • Start the update; it'll take several min.
   • After the update, the server restarts automatically.
     
3. Update the OS packages.

   • Log back into the openthinclient Manager.

   • Select > Basic Settings (bottom left) from the menu.

   • Select the Client Package Management option from the menu.

   • Select the Updateable Packages tab.

   • Click Update Package List — all new packages will appear.

   • Select All Packages

   • Click Install in the bottom right corner

   • In the new window, click Install.
     Accept any license agreements.

   • After installation, a message appears stating that all packages have been successfully installed.
     The update is now complete.

4. After the update, the openthinclient server service restarts; allow several min for completion.
5. After updating the base package, restart all PXE boot clients.

Always take a snapshot or create a backup before updating a production system. Major updates, in particular, may introduce changes that require a forward-compatible workflow, so plan accordingly. Review the notes under Version Info before performing an update.

Using the Installer

1. Download the installer for the operating system version.
2. Run the installer as an administrator or root.
3. Confirm the update of the existing installation.
4. Follow the installation wizard and leave the path for the Manager home directory unchanged.
