Installation
For more information, see:
Note the system requirements.
Update
Update existing installations within the openthinclient Management Server.¹
For a description of the update process, read the article Performing an Update.
¹If using the virtual appliance, install a new appliance and migrate the data, at least for a major release.
Updates and Improvements
openthinclient Manager
Touchscreen support
Directly within the operating system without additional devices/components. Calibration can be performed on the thin client and, if necessary, persisted using the new touchscreen calibration component.
The packages elotouch, penmounttouch and egalax-touch Development's now focused elsewhere.
FreeRDP
The FreeRDP package now also supports the Windows login screen when TLS is selected as the security protocol.
Localboot
The release fixes bugs affecting Localboot clients with static IP addresses.
Display
The new "Clone" option allows duplicating the display on a second monitor.
Known issues
openthinclient Manager
The display of assignments now shows all items, including applications assigned via user groups.
Virtual Appliance
The virtual appliance starts successfully in Oracle VirtualBox after adjusting the operating system setting. To resolve the black screen, after importing the appliance, select "Linux" as the type and "Debian (64-bit)" as the version in the properties.
Citrix
The manufacturer has published a list of known issues for version 1903 of the Citrix Receiver; it's available on the Citrix website.
FreeRDP
FreeRDP is under continuous development. The developers track all known issues in the GitHub Issue Tracker.
When using Terminal Server ≤ 2008R2, use rdesktop instead of FreeRDP.
rdesktop
Use rdesktop for connections that don't require TLS; refer to arch-linux-bug.
Display Settings
Like all modern Linux systems, it uses KMS (Kernel Mode Setting). As a result, display names may change after the update. Therefore, adjust the setting in the "Display" device settings. Alternatively, under "Use specific graphics driver" in the hardware settings, select "Use Xorg-Intel driver" instead of KMS.
Glamor Acceleration with AMD Graphics (radeon)
Starting with version 2018.1, Glamor Acceleration is always enabled by default for AMD graphics cards. If the system lacks graphical interface support, set the additional kernel parameter `glamor=false` in the hardware type or directly on the thin client.
See:https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/Glamor/
