Update

 

Update existing installations within the openthinclient Management Server.¹

¹If using the virtual appliance, install a new appliance and migrate the data, at least for major releases.

Updates and Improvements

Management
  • Buttons for restarting and shutting down thin clients
  • New "ThinClient Password" field for administrative access in the General Settings to set the password for SSH and root privileges on all ThinClients. 
openthinclient OS
  • Based on Debian 12 "bookworm"
  • Improvements to the layout of the ThinClient desktop interface
  • To ensure that a running ThinClient applies changes to applications, use "Reapply Settings" or restart the ThinClient.
  • Terminal:
    • The default shortcut to open is now CTRL+ALT+T 
    • The default terminal mate-terminal (lxterm (can still be started manually)
  • xtightvncviewer replaced by xtigervncviewer
  • clipit replaced by xclip
Active Directory connection
  • Specify object filters and attributes for the username to use alternative AD or other directory services.
  • Configuration for Primary Directory Server has been simplified.
Citrix
  • Updates:
    • Citrix Workspace App to 2408
    • Zoom VDI plugin to 6.1.13
    • Philips VC driver to 13.1.14
  • Pre-fill individual fields in the login dialog in the management console.
Desktop
  • Some settings have been renamed and sorted more logically.
  • New desktop type: "Kiosk mode with simple taskbar"
  • Set whether programs and files open with a double-click, a single click, or a touch.
  • Toggle display of network information directly on the desktop.
FreeRDP
  • updated to version 2.11.7
  • Set audio and microphone forwarding to "On" by default.
  • Added "Generated Password" field to specify a password using variables
  • Pre-fill individual fields in the login dialog through the management interface.

  • Primary directory server configuration's now fixed.

Known issues

openthinclient management
  • When renaming a hardware type used by a thin client, the save and rename complete successfully, and an error message still appears.
Active Directory Integration
  • In the openthinclient Manager, the display names of the users are shown instead of the logon names.
  • Ensure the user ID for read access credentials uses ASCII characters to allow successful thin client login.
Citrix
