Perform an Update
Preparation
-
Although extensive testing has occurred across multiple environments, it's still advisable to prepare for a smooth installation. Back up the data or, at a minimum, capture a server snapshot.
-
Stay informed about known issues during the update process and, if necessary, follow the recommended steps to prevent problems. Read the update notes.
-
Review the changes in the openthinclient software and ensure it meets requirements. Read the release notes for all versions newer than the currently installed version.
-
The management server restarts during the update, so plan for brief thin-client downtime. Existing VDI sessions typically continue without issues, but users should expect a short interruption. Notify affected end users.
Procedure
- Open the openthinclient Manager
http://<SERVERNAME_ODER_IP>:8080 - Select Basic Settings from the menu at the bottom left
- In the menu on the left, select Manager Updates
- Click "Check for Updates" in the top-right corner
- Start the update; this process takes several minutes
- After the update, the server restarts automatically and updates the openthinclient OS.
After updating the base package, restart all PXE boot clients.
Update localboot thin clients
-
For ThinClients using localboot, the system synchronizes new packages to the local storage medium in the background when updates are enabled in the assigned localboot application.
- To start a background update, select "Reapply Settings" from the menu.
- Once this synchronization is complete, a message appears in the top-right corner, indicating that new packages have been downloaded.
- Restart the thin client to apply the changes.
