Client Package Management
Add, update, or remove applications and components through their respective packages in Client Package Management. Distribute the packages via http://archive.openthinclient.org distributed. Accordingly, grant the openthinclient Management Server access to them (see Proxy Configuration). Client Package Management is located in the Basic Settings.

Thin Client Behavior After Package Changes
If the package status changes due to package management operations, the thin clients behave as follows:
- A prompt to restart appears on all thin clients booted over the network
- On Localboot clients, synchronization of the affected packages begins if the "Enable Client Update" option is enabled. After synchronization completes, a pop-up prompts users to restart the thin client.
The system maintains end-user activity, preserves remote sessions, and defers automatic restart.
In principle, restart all affected thin clients as soon as possible after a package update or downgrade to maintain stability and prevent errors.
To check the OS version of a booted thin client, open a terminal and enter the following command: cat /etc/motd
Beta Versions
Occasionally, individual packages are made available in advance for public testing.
To install beta versions, select the Beta Versions checkbox under Available Packages, and explicitly install the package — even if an older version is already installed.
When installing beta packages, the following warning message is displayed:
The message states that feedback is appreciated, yet users accept beta versions at their own risk — issues may not be covered by the support contract.
Install beta versions only on test systems, except when support instructs otherwise.
