With the CUPS client, thin clients can print via a CUPS server on the network. The CUPS server requires Linux and can be managed via a web interface http://<ihr Server>:631 .
Setting up the CUPS server
- Check whether Linux drivers are available for the printer. Free drivers are available for many models; view them in the printer database openprinting.org.
- Install a Linux server if one isn't already available.
- Install the CUPS server — use the packages provided by the Linux distribution.
- Manage the CUPS server/printer under, e.g.,
http://localhost:631
