Dictation Devices, Foot Pedals, and Signature Pads

A common use case for openthinclient is connecting to a Windows server via RDP or Citrix. If a device connected to the thin client is also to be accessible within the Windows session, there are various technical options for achieving this. The following table lists devices for which drivers have already been implemented and tested for customers.

Devacon ProDictate

Applies to the following devices:

  • Nuance PowerMic III
  • Philips Foot Pedal LFH 23X0/00
  • VEC Infinity Foot Pedal

To use one of these devices with RDP alongside ProDictate, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the FreeRDP application as usual.
  2. Set the "Enable ProDictate Plugin" setting to Yes.

  3. Assign the application to the ThinClient.
Grundig

Applies to the following devices:

  • Grundig Footpedal 536/540 (USB)
  • Grundig Digta SonicMic I/II Classic
  • Grundig Digta Soundbox 830

The devices listed above have been tested. In principle, call forwarding should also work with any other Grundig device.

To use one of these devices with RDP, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the FreeRDP application as usual.

  2. Set the "Enable Grundig Plugin" setting to Yes.

  3. Assign the application to the thin client.

To use a device with Citrix, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the Citrix application as usual.

  2. Set the "Enable Grundig Plugin" setting to "Yes."

  3. Assign the application to the thin client.

If the thin client includes an internal sound card, select the Grundig device as the default sound card. Refer to Audio — Configure Devices for instructions.

Philips

Applies to the following devices:

  • Philips Speechmike Premium LFH3500-00
  • Philips Foot Pedal LFH23X0/00

The team's tested the listed devices. In principle, forwarding also works with any other Philips device.

To use one of these devices with FreeRDP, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the FreeRDP application as usual.

  2. Set the "Enable Philips Plugin" setting to Yes.

  3. Assign the application to the thin client.

To use a device with Citrix, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the Citrix application as usual.

  2. Set the "Enable Philips Speechmike Plugin" setting to Yes.

  3. Assign the application to the thin client.

If the thin client includes an internal sound card, select the Philips device as the default sound card. Find instructions under Audio — Configure Devices.

Signotec Signature Pads

Applies to the device:

  • Signotec Pad Sigma ST-BE105-2-U100

To use a different Signotec signature pad, confirm with the manufacturer that the Citrix Virtual Channel driver supports it or that it can operate via USB redirection in an RDP session.

To use a supported device with Citrix, follow these steps:

  1. Configure the Citrix application as usual.
  2. Additionally, set the "Enable Signotec Plugin" option to "Yes."
  3. Assign the device to the thin client.
