Problem Analysis

Confirm that the storage device is automatically mounted in Linux.

After inserting a USB storage device, a new icon appears on the desktop. If the icon's missing, the following factors may be responsible:

  • Ensure the desktop application is configured correctly. Check the settings.
  • Ensure the desktop application is assigned to the thin client.
  • The USB drive has an unknown file system. Try using a USB drive formatted with FAT32.
  • The USB drive uses BitLocker encryption, which openthinclient currently doesn't support.
  • A "USB Permissions" component may be assigned to the thin client and blocking the USB drive, so check the settings.
Confirm that FreeRDP forwards the drive.

If a USB drive was automatically mounted in Linux, the USB drive should be visible in Windows Explorer. If it's not visible, consider the following reasons:

  • Linux mounted the USB drive incorrectly (see above).
  • Confirm FreeRDP settings.
